Who we are

Mediations.Pro is the mediation practice of Christopher H. Knauf, Esq. For any question about this policy, or to make a request about your data, please contact us.

What this policy covers, and what it does not

This policy is about the website. It is not about your mediation.

Anything said, written or exchanged in the course of a mediation is confidential and is governed by California mediation confidentiality law and by the mediation agreement you sign, not by this page.

What this website collects

No personal information. There are no comments, no accounts, no logins and no file uploads. The site sets no cookies and runs no advertising or session-recording software of its own.

Like any website, it does keep standard server logs. These typically record your IP address, the page you requested, the date and time, your browser type and the page you arrived from. They are used to keep the site running and secure, and for nothing else.

Counting page views

The site counts page views using a privacy-first analytics tool. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It does not use your IP address, your browser’s user agent, or anything else to build a profile of you, to recognize you on a later visit, or to follow you to another website.

For each page view it records the page you opened, the site you arrived from if you followed a link, your country, your device type, your browser and operating system, and how quickly the page loaded. None of that identifies you, and it cannot be used to see what any one visitor did.

The two booking pages

Booking is handled by outside companies, and their scheduling tools are embedded on two pages. Those tools load software from their own servers and from other companies. Apart from the page-view counting described above, this is the only part of the site where that happens, and the booking tools were moved onto their own pages specifically so that reading the rest of the site does not involve them.

Mediation availability

The mediation availability page uses a third party scheduling provider. Opening that page loads:

• Session-recording analytics. Software that records how visitors interact with the page, including mouse movement, clicks and scrolling, and builds heatmaps from it. That data goes to the analytics company, not to us.
• Tag management and advertising tags. Tools that let the provider load and manage other third-party scripts on the page.
• The provider's own booking database, and a web font service.

No-fee call

The no-fee call page uses the scheduling tool that comes with our video conferencing service. Opening that page loads that tool, a bot check, and tag management. It does not load session-recording software.

The contact form

If you use the contact form, what you type is sent to us as an email. It is delivered by an email delivery service and is not stored in a database on this website.

Spam protection on the contact form

Our contact form is protected by an automated spam check. Because the form appears on our home page and on our ADA mediation page, this check runs for visitors to those pages.

The check looks at the characteristics of your browser rather than asking you to identify images or solve a puzzle. Most visitors pass automatically and see only a confirmation box. In some cases you may be asked to click a checkbox. Performing this check requires loading a script from an outside security service and sending that service your IP address and technical details about your browser. That service does not use this information for advertising, does not track you across other websites, and does not place tracking cookies.

We also filter automated submissions with a hidden field and a timing check, and we limit how many messages can be sent from a single internet connection. These run on our own server.

Please keep what you write general. An email is not privileged and is not confidential in the way a mediation is.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies. The page-view counting described above sets none either. The booking tools described above may set their own when you open those two pages, under the control of the companies that provide them.

What you give the schedulers

If you book a call or a session, you give the scheduler your name, your email address and whatever you write in the booking form. That information goes to the company providing the scheduler and to Chris, and is used to arrange and conduct the mediation or the call.

What rights you have over your data

Please contact us to ask what personal information is held about you, to ask for a copy, and to ask for it to be deleted.

Information held by the scheduling providers, the analytics providers or the video conferencing service is held by those companies under their own policies. Ask us and we will tell you who they are and help you reach the right place, but we cannot delete their records for you.

Children

This site is not directed at children, and bookings are made by adults. Where a dispute concerns a child, such as a 504 plan or an IEP, the booking is made by the parent or guardian.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. If the site ever starts collecting something it does not collect today, that will be stated here before it starts.
